Internet Wars: Watchya talking' about? Why not use favicons?A face in the crowdStatic Vs. DynamicGoogle Search API, now in AJAXUsing feeds to your advantageKeep it simple!A designer and a writerWho needs social network sites? To position, or not to position!  »

I'm calling this a hack, because I really cannot afford the luxury of having three different categories for hacks, mods and methods (don't kill me Avatar!). Stephen and I came up with this while talking today, and I came up with an synchronous version, while he generated an asychronous version. But both of them do the same thing! They work towards using the newly discovered Blogger blogs RSS feeds, to display a list of the latest posts to be updated/modified on your blog. You can see it at work in the sidebar!

This works because unlike the ATOM, the posts in the RSS are sorted in the order of update. Which means, if you changed and republished your 20th post after your, say, 80th post ... your ATOM would remain unchanged. But your RSS would change to say -- 20th post, 80th post, 79th post -- and so on! Stephen thinks this is a bug and an oversight on Blogger's part, but I'm being a bit more optimistic, and think Blogger let this little glitch creep in on purpose, so that people could really come up with a way to show whats been happening with the posts which have gone out of sight!

I'd love to hand you my codes, but Stephen's codes are more customisable. Hence, you can see the various ways of implementing this on your blog over at his post, Last Updated Posts. Ofcourse, seeing that Blogger made no official announcement about the RSS feeds, if they decide to pull it out, this hack goes for a toss. But that shouldn't stop you from enjoying it while its there, and there is no easy way of doing this either.

So, what are you waiting for?

[Update]: Blogger has been suffering some serious hurdles, with speeds going up and down all the time! This could mean some really good news, or maybe one bad one in the near future! Let's hope the RSS feeds aren't pulled out!

This is a Hack, so you are safe.

now, this is somethin that you called 'look on the other side' thing ;) good point of view you got ;) you're some optimist guy ;)

nice hack :)

@Avatar: Thanks for sparing me! :)

@Effendi: Yes! I am optimist. But that probably stems from me not being with Blogger long enough. As Avatar points out, they did take long to announce the audio captcha. So, we have a few more days to this announce, and once they do we'll get to know if this hack is worth keeping! :)

That kind of things can't happen by accident???

What makes you think the latest updates should not be in the rss?

No one ever said that the glitch shouldn't be there. We just hope its not a glitch, and is actually a feature. Hence my optimism! :)
